Tacoma Narrows Bridge Funsite

ITEM 571

Item 571:A very Rare offering; an original construction blueprint of the 1940 Tacoma Narrows bridge named Galloping Gertie; that collapsed shortly after it was finished. This blueprint plan was obtained from the estate of the bridge engineer- Clark Eldridge. The plan, titled "Toll Plaza, Layout of Water Pipe" shows an overhead view & details of the Tacoma east approach & toll plaza, and the city streets leading to the bridge entrance. At the time (plan is dated June 3, 1940) the streets were labeled Jackson Alexander Road and Sixth Avenue, with the entrance road not marked- but was later named Olympic Boulevard.

The blueprint size is 36" wide by 22" tall, and it is in very fine condition with some wrinkling & folds, and minor edge wear with a small tear at the top edge that stops at the plan border. The plan is marked as approved by the Washington Toll Bridge Authority, Clark Eldridge, and L.V. Murrow (Lacey V. Murrow- the Washington State Director of Highways). This unique item will be shipped insured.
